40 students from IES Paseo das Pontes have visited Gradiant installations yesterday morning

Far from being boring and a world away from reality, the research activity is awaking the interest of the Galician teenagers. They are conscious that the technological advances, research and innovation are the future.

The Semana de la Ciencia (Science Week) and In Gradiant Contest are bearing their first fruits. Fourty students from the IES Paseo das Pontes (A Coruña) have visited the Galician Research and Development Center in Advanced Telecommunications (Gradiant) installations yesterday morning.

The students were welcomed by Fernando Pérez, Gradiant Executive Director with one of the Gradiant researcher, who guided them in the visit. The students have seen (and have touched in required occasions) the projects that are being developed in Gradiant, showing a big interest for all of them.

Every researcher showed his advances and was enquired by the students form IES As Pontes with odd questions.

The visit, which was planned for one hour, was extended due the curiosity of the girls and boys about the different machines that were showed: an access control based on biometry, a jammer, a virtual blackboard, a multitouch screen, several face-based human-machine interfaces features and a hardward laboratory. There, they could see a wireless sensor, coaxial network, voice encoder, wireless sensors, cable modem, FM receiver by software radio, among others.
