GRADIANT GRASPS ONE MILLION EUROS FROM PLAN AVANZA 2009 WHICH WILL CREATE MORE THAN 20 JOBS IN GALICIA

The excellence of the research carried out in the Telecommunications Technology Centre of Galicia has been rewarded with the granting of funds of Plan Avanza, from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, a plan that forms part of the Telecommunications Strategic Action Information Society, in the National R & D (2008-2011), achieving a success rate of 6 As well as, the recognition of the quality of their projects that this grant represents, Gradiant will be able to meet its strategic goal of creating highly skilled jobs.Thanks to the uptake of these funds more than 20 jobs, for engineers, will be created in the community within the next two years. The projects presented will serve to develop new solutions relevant to the Galician companies that, in most cases, this initiative demonstrates an interest in research, development and innovation (R + D +I) as a path towards internationalization of their products. Apart from businesses, the other major benefited will be the University of Vigo, which has received more than half a million Euros resulting from the projects taken up by the Technology Centre. Moreover it is important to point out the presence of different kinds of companies, from the large established companies to the micro-companies that have decided to work with Gradiant and carry out part of their R & D in the centre COMPANIES OF VARIOS SECTORS

The current crisis forces to seek new productive models for the Galician companies, models that offer benefits in short and long term, to ensure its projection without falling into excessive immediacy. In this case, it is important to emphasize Gradiant’s mainstreaming of the research lines and its application to projects of very different sectors, demonstrating that innovation in information technology and communications is a key factor in any area. Thus, the projects granted enter the sectors of telecommunications, interactive advertising, teletraining, video games, automotive, household electrical appliances, disabled accessibility and safety. On the whole, the projects presented are valid for 2 years and in most cases a direct application to the lives of citizens including those with special needs and improving their quality of life are seeked.
